Public Areas

Museums, shows, trade fairs and exhibitions

Consumers equipped with a standard device (e.g. PDA) be it of their ownership or rented on location, will benefit from an array of multimedia services contextualised to the route they will follow through their visit.
The consumer will have the possibility of:

  • Graphic visualization of one’s own position
  • Graphic visualization of congress halls, restoration areas, cloakrooms, exits located in proximity of railway stations or taxi services, fire extinction systems, public telephones, information points, etc.
  • Visualizing and calculating the ideal routes to the desired services or any particular chosen destination
  • Interactive access to information regarding the exhibitor or the items exhibited and general information regarding the fair pavilion or the museum being visited

For trade fairs and exhibitions, high end consumers have the possibility to:

  • Register his/her information in the data base upon arrival (buyer, seller, broker etc.)
  • Be guided by an interactive map through buildings and pavilions to stands reflecting one’s personal interest and/or corresponding to one’s profiled preferences
  • Be tracked and reached in any area of the fair by other visitors (or exhibitors) whose profile matches their interests

The management of the museum or fair has the possibility to group data relative to visitor transit flows for the logistical optimisation of display areas, for the sizing of critical routes and for balancing the provision of services.

Amusement parks, ski resorts, golf courses, resorts and others

Airports

Visitors equipped with a personal device (e.g. PDA) will benefit from services such as:

  • Mapping of the reference area
  • Navigation services with identification of commercial businesses, check-in desks, gates, public utility services, etc.
  • Immediate retrieval of the location of young, aged or disabled people in case of emergency or disorientation

Independent to whether the traveller may want to use the device (e.g. PDA) for the services provided, the airport management company may offer to:

  • Provide passengers with an Ubiquicom Tag, once finished checking in (not necessarily associated to the passenger name so as to respect privacy regulations); the gate staff relevant to his/her flight may then visualize the passenger’s position within the airport, anticipating boarding calls and for those passengers running late, and estimate the time necessary to reach the gate, being able to re-schedule the gate closure time
  • Provide non-standard luggage (above the standard value, animal cages, harmful or hazardous equipment, outsize, etc.) with an Ubiquicom Tag, to assure/confirm boarding, and alert its proprietor in possible cases of emergency relative to boarding.

Urban and Suburban areas

Like the services currently offered by GPS to “outdoor” clients, users equipped with a personal device (e.g. PDA) will benefit from territorial mapping with navigation services for the tracking of roads, public services, commercial activities, public utility and emergency services

Counsel administration and municipal police may also provide:

  • Tracking of vehicles
  • Traffic, accident and fire alerts
  • Payment systems at rest areas and tolls based on the time and length of stay or of the distance travelled
