Ubiquicom Tag is an active portable device of small dimensions capable of communicating on a WiFi network. Its main function is to allow the tracking of objects and individuals by means of the Ubiquicom Locator software platform.
Ubiquicom Tag is entirely in-band configurable via WiFi (“over the air”) and is compatible with the WiFi Access Points of ANY vendor.
In addition to the positioning functions, Ubiquicom Tags are to all effects an “IP appliance”. With a design based on open standards, they can be used at a low cost as a communication tool on WiFi networks, and personalised according to the client’s needs. Sensors, activators, external devices and communication buses can all be integrated for an immense variety of requirements in the field of machine–to-machine (M2M) interactions, telemetrics, and tele-control and alarming.
This immense versatility supported by over-the-air firmware updates allows functionality variations even well after the deployment phase, providing total flexibility for data-logging applications and substantially reducing maintenance costs, even in the cases of very large fleets.
Ubiquicom tags are based on advanced technology related to the fields of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and RTLS (Real Time Locating Systems). Within WiFi networks, it exceeds the typical range provided by RFID systems, even the active ones, covering distances of hundreds of metres and allowing the precise identification of vehicles, material and people in transit.
